 Inter Service Swimming

The Inter-Service swimming competition takes place in July each year between the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.  In 2010 the competition was hosted by the Royal Air Force at RAF Cranwell.

With a few new editions to the team this year the Royal Navy men's team went into the event hopeful that they could extend their Inter-Service record for the most consecutive wins.  The team was populated with a few old faces and a few new ones and set an early good pace by winning many of the opening races.  The competition turned into a domination by the men who won once again to extend their winning run to 12 out of the last 13 years, which has never been achieved in Inter-Service swimming before.

The ladies team this year also had a few new faces but also had a few key swimmers missing.  The event this year was one of the closest for many years but unfortunately the women finished third, but are hopeful that a full strength team next year will make all the difference.

The 2011 Inter-Service Championship will be held in Aldershot and will hopefully see the men's team continue their winning streak and the women's team start a winning run of their own.
