Royal Navy Swimming and Waterpolo

Welcome to the website for Royal Navy swimming and waterpolo.  The Royal Navy has a long history of involvement in competitive swimming and waterpolo and regularly participates in swimming and waterpolo competitions across the UK and world.  This includes an active group of swimmers who are involved in open water events and those involved in competitive diving.

Centenary Year

admin/centenary graphic.JPGThe earliest records for a formed association in the Royal Navy for swimming date from 1909.  There are records that before this various groups within the Royal Navy held internal competitions but these were not co-ordinated across the Royal Navy until 1909.  The Royal Navy Swimming Association will therefore be celebrating it's centenary during 2009 and 2010 and has various events planned, including participation in the World Masters Games in Sydney and a cross Channel relay race against the Army and RAF.
