Welcome to the website for Royal Navy swimming and waterpolo.  The Royal Navy has a long history of involvement in competitive swimming and waterpolo and regularly participates in swimming and waterpolo competitions across the UK and world.  This includes an active group of swimmers who are involved in open water events and those involved in competitive diving.

Centenary Year

The earliest records for a formed association in the Royal Navy for swimming date from 1909.  There are records that before this various groups within the Royal Navy held internal competitions but these were not co-ordinated across the Royal Navy until 1909.  Because of this the Royal Navy Swimming Association have been celebrating it's centenary during 2009 and 2010 and has participated in many events, including the World Masters Games in Sydney and a cross Channel relay race against the Army and RAF.

Ferry, Ryde, Swim

To complete the Centenary year on the 4 Sep 10, 24 swimmers from the Royal Navy, local swimming clubs and Wave 105FM will swim from Ryde to Stokes Bay to raise money for Help for Heroes and Wave's CASH FOR KIDS.  To show your support please either donate via our Just Giving Page or come along on the day.  Estimated time of arrival at Stokes Bay (next to GAFIRS) is 1030.  Find out more at our Open Water Section
